15 October 1933: Creation of the Gustavia hospital by Father Irénée de Bruyn, under the responsibility of the Sisters of the Saint Paul of Chartres congregation
18 February 1934: Official opening of the hospital
From 1966 to 1970: Closure of the hospital
March 1970: Reopening of the hospital under the responsibility of the Sisters of the religious congregation
1985: The hospital, now named “Irénée De Bruyn Hospital”, is equipped with 20 beds (3 maternity beds, 10 medical beds and 7 hospice beds)
1 January 1987: The hospital becomes a public institution, attached to the municipality of Saint-Barthélemy
1988: Removal of maternity beds and conversion of hospice beds into medium-stay care beds
2010: Inauguration of the hospital’s new main building
