Your health, our priority

Irénée de Bruyn Hospital Centre

An Emergency ?

Avant de venir

Before to come

Only one number to call: 15.
Depending on the patient’s age, the time or the day, the referral pathway may differ, and sometimes the situation is not an emergency.

Assessment via 15

By calling 15, you will be connected to the emergency medical dispatch centre (SAMU) in Guadeloupe, which will assess the situation and determine whether immediate care is required.

In the event of a major emergency

Depending on the level of urgency, 15 will dispatch the Territorial Fire and Rescue Service (STIS 977) and/or the Mobile Emergency and Intensive Care Service (SMUR). You will then receive initial care prior to transport and admission to the hospital’s emergency department.

In the case of a non-life-threatening emergency

15 will advise you to go to the emergency department.

A message from the Hospital’s leadership

The Hospital Centre stands by your side as a cornerstone of healthcare services on our island.

Voici la traduction en anglais (ton institutionnel / site officiel) :

More than just a healthcare facility, it is a cornerstone of health services for the people of Saint-Barthélemy, ensuring high-quality medical care and coordinating transfers or medical evacuations whenever necessary.

As a true provider of local, community-based healthcare for all, our hospital embodies an essential mission: to support everyone at every stage of their healthcare journey, at all ages.

This commitment is rooted in the fundamental values we share with our professionals, our patients, and all of our partners: Quality, Compassion, and Proximity.

Your health remains the guiding principle of our work.

The CHIDB ?

The Irénée de Bruyn Hospital Centre is the island’s only healthcare facility. It has the following services and infrastructure:

  • An emergency department, as an extension of the Saint-Martin Hospital Centre, providing initial care and preparing patients for possible transfer.

  • A general medicine unit for the treatment of common conditions.

  • A Medical and Rehabilitation Care unit (SMR) providing rehabilitation care and follow-up after hospitalization.

A 30-bed nursing home (EHPAD) is also authorized and forms an integral part of the hospital. In addition, a Home Nursing Care Service (SSIAD) is authorized for 20 patients.

Deeply rooted in its local area, the hospital fulfils its role as a local healthcare provider and delivers care tailored to individual needs, in partnership with stakeholders across the island and the French West Indies.
